Official, cross-platform mobile app for Unión Deportiva Melilla that unifies the club's digital presence and brings fans closer to the action. The app delivers a newsroom-grade content experience with articles, interviews, match previews, post-match reports, and media galleries, all published through an editor-friendly CMS. A dedicated Matchday Center provides second-by-second coverage with push notifications for kick-off, goals, substitutions, cards, and full-time, plus rich live stats such as line-ups, formations, shots, xG-style breakdowns, and possession trends that update continuously throughout the game. Supporters can browse fixtures, standings, and historical results, filter by competition, and revisit past matches with curated highlights. Accessibility features (dynamic text size, high-contrast modes, screen-reader support) and a clean navigation structure make the app intuitive for a broad audience. The Member Area transforms the season-ticket (abono) into a secure, dynamic QR pass that refreshes automatically and can be presented at turnstiles even under low connectivity. The multi-platform architecture targets iOS and Android natively while providing a unified, branded experience across devices. Before this project, the club did not have an official app. We designed the product to be the primary owned channel for communications, fan engagement, and stadium access, with a backend engineered for matchday traffic spikes, editorial workflows that favour speed and accuracy, and analytics that help the club understand what content resonates most with its supporters.
Build the club's first-ever app from scratch and integrate it seamlessly with existing web and ticketing infrastructure while guaranteeing low-latency push notifications on matchdays. Stadium environments are notoriously high-load and connectivity-constrained, so the data layer and caching strategy had to balance freshness with reliability. We also needed to safeguard ticketing with rotating QR tokens and anti-forgery protections, ensure GDPR compliance for user accounts and notifications, and give non-technical editors a publishing process that is as fast as posting to social media but far more controllable. Another key challenge was designing a UI that surfaces a lot of real-time information—live text commentary, stats, standings, and alerts—without overwhelming the user. Finally, the system had to scale on demand during peak minutes (goals and full-time) while remaining lightweight and battery-friendly on devices, so fans keep notifications enabled.
UD Melilla gained a first-party mobile channel that consolidates news, live coverage, and ticket access into one polished experience. Fans receive instant alerts for goals and results, follow live stats in an elegant Matchday Center, and use dynamic QR passes to enter the stadium—reducing queues and support overhead. Editors now publish once to reach thousands of supporters with consistent branding and governance, while the analytics layer guides future content and commercial opportunities. Operationally, the architecture comfortably absorbs matchday surges and has created a foundation for future growth—such as memberships, loyalty mechanics, and merchandise. The project modernized the club's digital footprint, increased engagement, and streamlined stadium operations with a single, secure, multi-platform product.
